Spy seems to be taking the world by storm and earning Melissa McCarthy the best reviews of her career; that’s in number one. In number two last week is the hugely popular action disaster flick San Andreas. In number three is Insidious three… funny when those numbers line up. But that’s old news, here’s what’s coming out this week.
Jurassic World is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2015… except after people saw the trailer. Everyone loved Chris Pratt a minute ago and for some reason right before this movie’s release, they turned on him. No Steven Spielberg or any of the original cast here either. I love the first one for its 90’s charm, so I figure they’re gonna cloud this one up with too many special effects. In other words, it was unnecessary but die hards are going to see it no matter what. Rotten Tomatoes says 71 percent so it could be a tossup for most people.
Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl might just have the best title of the year so far. Too bad it’s on limited release and everyone will be checking out dinosaurs. It’s a quirky hipster looking dramady about a teenager who likes making movies in his spare time and how his life changes when he befriends a classmate with cancer. Sounds like a tear jerker, right? It could be like one of those early 2000’s teen movies like Thumbsucker or The Squid and the Whale. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check ‘em out. Rotten Tomatoes says 84 percent. If you can find it, watch it! It looks sweet! And I mean sweet as in cute!
At first, I thought The Wolfpack was a blatant rip off of The Hangover. Then by the looks of it, it seemed more like Reservoir Dogs. Now, after looking into it, it’s about a family that lives in an apartment and doesn’t leave. It’s a documentary about them and how movies influenced their lives. It actually looks kind of amazing. It is pretty underground though so here’s the trailer in case you haven’t heard of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDbqcMfUdlI. Rotten tomatoes say 73 percent… could be a great watch.
It’s a pretty quiet week… well, limited week because producers know everyone is going to see the dinosaurs. So enjoy, I just hope you don’t get your childhoods ruined. That’s what’s playing for the week of June 12th, happy movie watching.
